Our Concerns Regarding Plastic Usage
HINOK remains committed to sourcing alternative materials to replace plastic. However, we thought that it's also crucial to fully address the plastic currently in use. Thus, we've parterned with the World's Leading Plastic Platform "rePurpose Global", pioneering in responsibly disposing of the mounds of plastic waste piled up on Earth.
rePurpose Global is the World's Leading Plastic Platform that operates the plastic neutral project, linking environmentally conscious companies like us with plastic waste management facilities located in various developing countries across Asia, Africa, and South America. By doing so, they strive to reduce the amount of plastic waste accumulating on the planet.
We achieved Plastic Neutral Certification by donating an amount to rePurpose Global, equivalent to the quantity of plastic used by a company for product manufacturing, to ethically manage the same amount of plastic waste. Our donation primarily supports the processing of low-value plastic waste collected from coastal areas at a waste management facility located in Bekasi, Indonesia.
For instance, when a customer buys HINOK THE SPRAY REFILL (450ml), which incorporates 25g of plastic packaging material, HINOK donates the necessary amount to ethically and environmentally responsibly dispose of an equivalent quantity of plastic waste discarded on the shores of Bekasi, Indonesia.

What's an low-value plastic waste?
Low-value plastic" refers to plastic that, such as snack wrappers, contains various other materials or is contaminated by food waste, making it difficult to recycle. This difficulty in recycling renders it unprofitable, making it undesirable for waste pickers to handle. Consequently, most of it ends up being left in nature and breaks down into small plastic pieces known as microplastics.
Due to its persistence and toxin content, ingestion by organisms can lead to clogged digestive tracts, posing a significant threat to life forms. Despite being easily transferred to humans through air, water, or mistakenly consumed by fish as food, this type of plastic is often overlooked due to its lack of profitability.
The essence of plastic neutrality lies in supporting waste disposal facilities with subsidies to handle low-value plastic, thereby establishing a proper process for its treatment.
